Connecting Strava
Who this is for — athletes. You connect your own Strava account from your athlete Integrations page. Connecting Strava is optional and never changes how your coach works with you.
PlanMyPeak analyzes each workout using its detailed second-by-second data — power, heart rate, cadence, and so on. TrainingPeaks only shares that detailed data for premium TrainingPeaks accounts. If your TrainingPeaks account isn’t premium, that detail is missing and the analysis can’t run.
Most athletes also record the same sessions on Strava, where that detailed data is available. Connecting Strava lets PlanMyPeak read the matching activity from Strava and use it to analyze the workout — so you get full analysis without a premium TrainingPeaks subscription.
Connect your account
- Open Integrations from your athlete menu.
- On the Strava card, select Connect Strava.
- You’ll be taken to Strava to sign in and approve access. PlanMyPeak requests read access to your activities — it never gets your Strava password.
- After approving, you’re returned to your Integrations page with a confirmation that Strava is connected.
Once connected, the Strava card shows your connection status and when it last synced.
How matching works
Your TrainingPeaks workout stays the source of truth — it holds the planned session, and any feedback is still delivered through TrainingPeaks. When a Strava activity lines up with a TrainingPeaks workout on the same day and of the same sport, PlanMyPeak automatically links them and uses your Strava recording to fill in the detailed data TrainingPeaks didn’t provide.
Because TrainingPeaks data always takes priority when it exists, PlanMyPeak briefly waits for TrainingPeaks to deliver the workout’s own recording before analyzing with the Strava one — so analysis of a just-finished workout can take up to about half an hour to appear. If TrainingPeaks later supplies its own detailed data for a workout that was filled in from Strava, PlanMyPeak switches the workout back to the TrainingPeaks recording.
If an activity can’t be matched confidently — for example there’s no corresponding TrainingPeaks workout that day — it’s simply left unmatched and ignored. Your two sources are always kept separate; PlanMyPeak never mixes data from a different workout into your session.
When a workout’s power and other detailed metrics came from Strava, a small info icon appears next to the workout title at the top of the review. Select it to confirm the data was sourced from Strava rather than TrainingPeaks.
New Strava activities are picked up automatically, usually within a few minutes of upload. You can also trigger a manual Sync now from the Strava card’s advanced controls.
What PlanMyPeak can see
- Your Strava activities and their recorded data (such as duration, power, heart rate, and cadence) needed to analyze the workout.
PlanMyPeak’s access to Strava is read-only — it never posts to Strava, never changes your activities, and never shares them publicly. Any short feedback comment still goes to TrainingPeaks, as described in Reviewing a workout.
If the connection expires or you revoke it
Strava access can expire or be revoked. When that happens you’ll see a prompt to reconnect Strava. Re-authorizing takes a few seconds and restores syncing for new activities — your existing reports are not affected.
You can disconnect at any time from the Strava card on your Integrations page. Existing reports remain available; new activities stop syncing until you reconnect.
